Mold Information Books ….an award winning quality system


Problem:

HK needed to develop a system within our ISO program to address quality related issues.


Solution:

The HK team began gathering input from customers and team members.

A Quality Information Book is established for every part we manufacture. This book is divided into multiple sections:

Job Traveler - purchase order information, job number, production lot number, material lot data and due date.

Process Information - providing process information to run the job. Areas include mold sampling, and mold production processing.

Quality Plan (fig. 1) - contains all the key and critical characteristics, frequency of inspection, operator instructions, secondary operation requirements, and packaging requirements.

Production Tally - monitors production yield.

Mold History - lists major repairs, modifications, and maintenance.

Training - identifies operators who have been trained in the quality plan.

Raw Material - identifies the type of material to be used, drying requirements, material additives and mixing instructions.


Result:

Based on HK’s innovative approach to quality, HK has been awarded several supplier quality awards. These prestigious awards confirm the effectiveness of our quality system.
