In House Tooling Advantage ….keeping productivity high

Problem:

During a recent production run, the core insert of an older tool developed a crack due to cyclic-loading. We often wonder why this happens when the parts are almost due for shipping, and this was the case. Customer was informed to determine if a two-week turnaround on the tool repair would hinder production efforts. The answer—YES!!!!!!!!

Solution:

HK engaged the committed staff in the toolroom. In two days, tool makers were able to build a temporary semi-hard core insert to meet production needs until a fully hard replacement could be made.

Result:

Customer came within 4 hours of stopping production line due to the damaged tool. HK was able to keep the customer happy and avoid costly productivity losses.
